Andy Farrell
Plumbing Estimator & Educator
My area of expertise is in the pricing of medium to substantial plumbing projects. My mission is to teach plumbers the 'skill' of estimating as there's great satisfaction when I receive a call from a client to inform me that they just won their first significant project.
Andy Farrell established the Plumbing Pack in 2012 with the release of the first Excel-based plumbing estimating system. In addition to the system, Andy provided one-on-one estimating training and was a contract estimator to numerous clients all over Australia.
Andy entered the plumbing industry in 1997 when he began his apprenticeship with Park Industrial & Commercial Plumbing (a medium-sized, Sydney based business). At the end of his fourth-year apprenticeship, his life took a devastating turn when he broke his neck due to a fall whilst competing in the Bridge to Bridge water-ski race on the Hawkesbury River in May 2000. The extent of the injuries left him an incomplete quadriplegic, and he conceded that the days of being a plumber were over. Determined to recover and return to the industry, Andy enrolled back into TAFE to complete all the advanced plumbing courses and followed up with a computer-aided drafting course (CAD).
In 2002 he began working in a friend's plumbers office quoting small jobs, dealing with customers, ordering materials and managing projects.
Determined not to rely on a Disability Support Pension, he pursued a career as a full-time plumbing estimator. By 2004, this goal became a reality when he gained a junior estimator position at Axis Plumbing. In the proceeding years, Andy joined the team of some of the largest multi-national plumbing companies winning upwards of a hundred million dollars worth of projects throughout Australia. He has assisted over a hundred small-medium businesses implement an estimating system, and personally taught hundreds of plumbers how to price projects.

My Philosophy
Transparency
I believe in creating completely transparent systems and easy to modify to suit your businesses requirements. All the components that make up the standard rates are itemised in a report, so you can see how they are built.
Consistency
Practice makes perfect!
I believe that when you implement consistent systems and procedures, it will lead to ongoing accuracy with your project estimate.
